Second level students win UL History documentary competition

The Department of History today held a prize-giving ceremony for students from Scoil Íde agus Iosef for their winning documentary film. The 1916 centenary film documentary competition, organised by Dr Vincent O'Connell, was aimed at students in second level education. With almost thirty entrants to the competition,  the standard was very high. Irish Research Council funding awarded for 1916 themed project

Congratulations to Dr Ciara Breathnach (Department of History), who has received funding from the Irish Research Council for a 1916-themed symposium and exhibition. The 1917 death of eminent republican Thomas Ashe was a key event of the revolutionary period.
