UL lecturer runs website to help voters choose election candidates

The country will take to the polls this Friday 24th May to vote in European Elections. WhichCandidate is a ‘voting advice application’ that allows voters to compare their own policy views with those of the candidates standing for election.

The website is run by Dr Rory Costello (Department of Politics and Public Administration, University of Limerick) and aims to make elections in Ireland more transparent and to give voters the information they need to make the right decision.

WhichCandidate has served voters for a number of elections, including the 2014 local elections in Limerick, and the 2016 Irish general election. In 2016, it was awarded the prize for Best New Web Application at the Realex Web Awards.

In the run up to elections this week, the Irish Times recommends WhichCandidate as a way to pinpoint candidates with similar views to voters.
