Sound Heritage Ireland Symposium


Irish World Academy of Music and Dance


Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam, Department of History, is convening a FREE one-day symposium on the ‘sounding’ of Irish heritage at the University of Limerick on Friday 7th October 2016. Focusing on issues surrounding music in historic houses, this is an intersectoral networking and knowledge exchange event hosted by the Department of History and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, and generously supported by the Irish Research Council (New Foundations Award).


This event will be of interest to anyone involved in interdisciplinary cultural heritage research and interpretation, particularly those concerned with curating, archiving, conserving, researching, interpreting, performing and programming period music in or connected with historic properties. The symposium features three international speakers/ facilitators: Professor Jeanice Brooks and Dr Katrina Faulds (University of Southampton; International Sound Heritage network) and Professor Jonathan Wainwright (University of York). All are welcome.
